Although it is located in a plain, the mount range of Sierra de Alba in the nearby, makes it have a rough landscape. Medancho river, whose water level is very low, crosses this town.
Around its main square, the oldest houses were built giving rise to a settlement where workers in the service of rich Mesta livestock farmers used to live. This is probably why there are no houses with shields, as it was a town of shepherds. Traditional architecture in stone. Most of the houses have been abandoned and nowadays are in ruins. Their inhabitants work on agriculture and sheeps. During the summertime, its population triples.
