THE GOVERNMENTAL BODY JUNTA OF CASTILLAY LEON WILL RESTORE THE FORTIFIED CHURCH OF VALTAJEROS


[2009-02-05] The governmental body Junta of Castilla y León has just put out to tender the restoration works of Our Lady del Vado’s church. This tiny Romanesque church was built at the end of the 12th century and it was fortified by adding crenelations, arrow slits, merlons and a machicolation to its structure. On the 24th of April 2007, it was declared Good of Cultural Interest since it is one of the few examples of fortified churches in Spain. Dirección General de Patrimonio has put out to tender the restoration works for 299,552.00€ to completely renew the outside face of the church and its roof.
